Festival of the Plumed Serpent

July 14, 2007

The last time the Mesoamerican people thought that the feathered serpent had returned in the form of a white man, Cortez proceeded to massacre and pillage and an entire civilization all but died.

Here in Lemuria, on the hallowed ground of the feathered serpent, the House of Serpents runs a Plumed Serpent festival, where all Lemurians have the opportunity to engage artistically and honour the deity that has been likened to Prometheus.

Celebrate the festival of the Plumed Serpent one of the oldest and best known deities (albeit with other names) throughout the whole of Mesoamerica a creation god and - for the Aztecs - the god of learning, science, arts, crafts, the calendar, agriculture, of priests, the winds, and much more.

  1. Fascinating stuff, Heather.

  2. Yes!!! This is the ticket! I love him!

  3. The Maya would summon the serpent by pulling a spiked rope through their tongues…hope we don’t have to do that. But I guess it’s better than the body part that the men had to pull the rope through to give blood for the gods…I’ll leave that to your imaginations.
